Great informational book, but very dense

This text contains a wealth of information, probably anything you could ever want to know, about immunology. It is well presented and easily accessible with good figures and pictures.
It's only downfall is that it is very dense. A ton of information crammed into a few pages. If you plan to read this text to learn about immunology, have your coffee ready, because you're going to need to be juiced up to pick up all the details that are embedded end to end in the text.
Final Verdict: great reference book if you want to look up a fact that you are already interested in or if you are already well versed in immunology...a difficult book to learn immunology from.
Overall excellent text, and great for beginners

I'm a beginner at immunology, and I have almost no immunological background. My boss, who is a medical doctor that's published and has been cited in this book, recommended this book to me, so that I may catch up to understand his research and build a foundation in immunology.
This is one of the only books I've ever been able to read on my own and actually understand and digest all the material. And everything beyond the first chapter is absolutely new material to me, but this book just made learning immunology easy and fun. It's probably the only textbook I'd ever use as free-reading material and actually enjoy. As one of the reviewers has mentioned, the best feature about this book is the "cartoons" that illustrate pretty complex biological mechanisms. I learn things visually, and I can't emphasize just how well the cartoons help me understand what I can't normally pick up from just reading the text. And, they're also really cutely drawn. From the standpoint of a beginner in Immunology, this book is probably one of the best textbooks.
Too dense

This is a good book if you have a good instructor to give you the big picture, but it is incredibly dense. It goes into too much detail on things like the the long list of proteins involved with a given reaction, but then neglects to explain the overall signficance of the reaction.
immunobiology

This book is, without a doubt, the best introduction for studying the field of immunobiology. Very easy to grasp the concepts without all the hype.
great book

very succinct, comprehensive, and organized book. the accompanying cd consists of about 20 short videos that are helpful, but the cd could be improved with interactive activities.
